Edersee-Cycle Route 2 (ER2) - Experience Frankenau Fields and Kellerwald National Park-Edersee

In Herzhausen the Edersee-Cycle path 2 from EderseeCycle route departs from the Eder Valley and ends there again. At the height of Schmittlotheim, the ER 2 leaves the Eder Valley and follows the gently rising Lorfe Valley via Altenlotheim to Frankenau. On the Kellerwald plateau, the extensive forest landscape of the nature park takes a break. Flower-filled meadows, lean grasslands, and heaths are the result of small-scale agricultural use. Old domestic animal breeds and flocks of sheep are preserved as witnesses to the past. At the Frankenau holiday village, the ER 2 leaves the cultivated landscape and enters the forests of the national park. Vast, rustic beech forests, interspersed with rocks and boulder slopes, clear springs and streams, as well as tranquil meadow valleys and forest meadows, form the natural treasure of the national park. The ER 2 leads via Quernst and Fahrentriesch back to Herzhausen. Anyone wishing to experience the globally unique nature of these forests is cordially invited to explore the region around the Edersee by bike.
