Hiking fun, hiking experience and information are the focus of the hike on the 4,8 km long main route. Children and parents alike will discover exciting and informative hiking fun through the realm of rustic beeches on the adventure tour. The family hiking trail is characterized by a short walking time, little difference in altitude and 13 free family fun adventure stations.
The circular hiking trail runs along predominantly natural paths and trails from the wildlife park Edersee to the treetop walk, then along the rustic path back to the wildlife park. The start and finish point for the 4,8 km main route is the wildlife park. For the very young hikers, there is also a small Eddis Edersee-Adventure tour of approximately 2 km in length. The start and finish points are at the Treetop Walk ticket office. At both starting points, children will receive Eddi's Adventure Hiking Map with lots of information and a competition entry.
When developing the family hiking trail, emphasis was placed on using the existing, family-friendly infrastructure. The provision of free parking spaces, good connections to public transport and family-friendly rest stops with public toilets are also part of this.
This family hiking fun is the first quality hiking trail according to the new criteria of the German Hiking Association for short trails with a focus on "Family" in Hesse.
The circular hiking trail is also one of our 16 Kellerwald Jewels, which are characterized by their scenic forest paths and breathtaking views. The Jewels are carefully selected routes with a length of approximately 4,5 km to almost 15 km. If you enjoyed the hike, you are welcome to discover other jewels of the Kellerwald and the Edersee Region.

Arriving by road is recommended via the B485 federal road.
From the North, at the roundabout, take the L3383 towards Affoldern.
From the south, take the junction onto the L3086 towards Affoldern

In general it should "AST-Taxi" (call shared taxi) be included in the planning. With the call-to-collect taxis (AST), the NVV ensures mobility on routes that are not in such high demand. Instead of taking the bus, you can travel here in normal taxis or rental cars. AST also have fixed timetables - all you have to do is (usually) call in to request a trip up to 30 minutes before the trip. Also consider that AST only operate if no normal buses are running parallel.

The narrow path from the Buchenhaus or Wild Animal Park (approx. 600 m) cannot be used with prams. Also with this little path it is possible to cross an obstacle. On the parallel dirt road, the stroller can be taken with you without any problems!
The stroller can be taken along on the rest of the hiking trail, but it is only recommended to a limited extent, as there are narrow and sloping paths.
The family hiking trail leads through mostly shady woods. Trees may have fallen over here and there, and branches may have fallen onto the path. Using Eddis Edersee This adventure tour is undertaken at your own risk. You should not attempt the trail in strong winds, heavy rain, or snowfall.
