  • Destination: National Park entrance and hiking car park "Kirchweg" Edertal-Bringhausen
On this stage, the Urwaldsteig between Hemfurth and Bringhausen is hiked. The Peterskopf in the national park with its high storage basins offers the widest view in the region!

From the parking lot of the Uniper (formerly E.ON) funicular railway in Hemfurth, the path first leads up a small slope and then in further serpentines into the national park to the Großer Hegekopf.

On a short route you overcome approx. 200 meters of altitude. If the climb is too strenuous for you, take the funicular to “Peterskopf” and from there take the marked access path to the main route of the Urwaldsteig.

Soon you will pass through the natural forest at the “Weißen Stein” and pass the western flank of the large high storage basin. Here you also have one of the most spectacular panoramic views in the region, get your camera ready!

Later you will immerse yourself on narrow paths in the extensive, old beech stands of the national park.

The next stop is the “Sauermilchplatz”, where a refuge invites you to take a break. At Daudenberg, the main path leads through the blocky southwest slopes, which drop steeply to the Keßbachtal.

After circling the interesting mountain range, you can descend to Bringhausen on the branching access road.

Instead of taking the bus, you can travel here in normal taxis or rental cars. AST also have fixed timetables - all you have to do is (usually) call in to request a trip up to 30 minutes before the trip. Also consider that AST only operate if no normal buses are running parallel.
