Through the heaths of the Kellerwald National Park-Edersee near Altenlotheim (Frankenau).

The circular route connects different types of heath and dry grassland in the historical cultural landscape with the wilderness of the national park.

The trail begins on a narrow path across a siliceous grassland with heath carnations near the Koppe hill, heading towards Fahrentriesch. There, in the open area that originally resulted from the clearing of the settlement of Eschebruch, abandoned in the late Middle Ages, one finds matgrass meadows with wood lousewort, arnica, and cat's-foot.

While the sand lizard basks in the sun, waiting for prey, the chirping of grasshoppers fills the air. The hiker reaches another open area at Heiligenstockdriesch before descending via the Seligenpfad, the path once used to transport the dead of Altenlotheim to the Quernstkirche for burial. The trail then leads back towards the starting point along the heathland at Hainchen.

Instead of taking the bus, you can travel here in normal taxis or rental cars. AST also have fixed timetables - all you have to do is (usually) call in to request a trip up to 30 minutes before the trip.
