In the newly designated Hiking Germany quality region, the Bad Wildung circular hiking trail W4 "Around the Homberg" offers a wonderful introduction to the region.
There are beautiful views, especially at the start at the Reinhardshöhe hiking car park, and also on the west side towards Bad Wildungen/Friedrichstein Castle. In the cold months, the path to the north always offers views of the Bilstein.
The path is not difficult and is easy to manage even for inexperienced hikers; the path is also suitable for wheelchair users in good shape.

Arrival & Parking
- How to find us
In terms of transport, Bad Wildungen and its districts are quite well connected thanks to its central location in the middle of Germany and the connection to regional traffic arteries.
Generously planned bypass roads within towns keep through traffic away. The journey takes you via the motorways
- A 44 (exit no. 64, Diemelstadt)
- A 5/A 7 (exit no. 84, Homberg/Efze)
- A 49 (exit no. 15, Wabern)
- and the federal highways B 253 and B 485

Tip for the smartphone - Download the “NVV Mobil” app in the respective app store before the tour!
In general it should "AST-Taxi" (call shared taxi) be included in the planning. With the call-to-collect taxis (AST), the NVV ensures mobility on routes that are not in such high demand. Instead of taking the bus, you can travel here in normal taxis or rental cars. AST also have fixed timetables - all you have to do is (usually) call in to request a trip up to 30 minutes before the trip. Also consider that AST only operate if no normal buses are running parallel.

Our tip
A detour to the top of the mountain with a viewing tower is worthwhile! Additionally about 3 km. – Europe's largest spa park beckons downwards.
Refreshment tip: The “Reinhardshöhe” café (directly at the start/finish) offers coffee and cake and – in the warm months – a terrace under lime trees with a beautiful view of Reinhardshausen and Kellerwald.
safety instructions
The circular hiking trail leads through shady forests and open terrain. Occasionally trees may have toppled over and branches may have fallen onto the path. Use of the hiking trail is at your own risk. You should not attempt this hiking trail in strong winds, heavy rain or snowfall.
The official rescue points (e.g. KB-617) are entered/marked on the maps and signs on site. If you are injured, you can inform the emergency services (telephone: 112) of the relevant point.
Unfortunately, the cell phone network is not comprehensive for internet reception.
