Bringhausen Evangelical Church

The Evangelical Church in Bringhausen is one of the 14 churches located on Edersee and along the Eder Cycle Path. Equipped with a multimedia, accessible information system, the churches allow you to immerse yourself in the history of the church and the respective location, listen to devotions and musical pieces, solve puzzles, or get tips for your onward journey.  

The Bringhäuser Church is a little treasure chest. It used to stand in the old village, which was flooded after the Edertalsperre was built. It was built there in 1726. In 1914 it was dismantled and rebuilt in a reduced size in the new village. The beautiful design of the entrance portal and the interior deserve special attention. The pulpit structure above the stone altar is particularly eye-catching. “Palm trees grow under load” was the motto of the then sovereign and so the pulpit is supported by four palm trees. The cheeks of the benches, the old candlesticks and the glass windows, which were designed by the artist Hildegard Ferber in 1955/56, are also beautiful to look at. They depict scenes from the life of Jesus: the birth, the baptism, the anointing in Bethany and the resurrection.

In the church in Bringhausen, the community celebrates service every fortnight on Sunday. It is open during the day, including on weekdays, and invites you to quiet contemplation and prayer. Many visitors to Bringhausen and the national park take advantage of this opportunity.
